The Little Lynx Approach
Nurturing Curious Minds through English, Play and Exploration
At Little Lynx, our unique curriculum blends internationally respected early childhood and language development frameworks that support the growth of every child in a nurturing and inclusive environment. We integrate WIDA English Language Development Standards with an emphasis on the six core processes of the Hexaflex model from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), grounded in Relational Frame Theory.
Our approach is enhanced by the EYLF/EYFS frameworks to ensure developmentally appropriate learning outcomes, the Reggio Emilia philosophy to encourage creativity and child-led exploration, and the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to ensure every learner can access and engage with the curriculum in ways that suit their strengths.
For language learning, we align our instruction with CEFR (Pre-A1 to A1) and ELOF benchmarks, ensuring students develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar through interactive, theme-based lessons. This framework ensures we meet each child where they are while preparing them for confident communication in English and readiness for future academic settings.
In essence our program is rooted in play-based learning, sensory exploration, and responsive teaching strategies aimed to encourage English language acquisition while fostering strong academic and social foundations. Our goal is to help every child feel seen, supported, and excited to learn—while gaining all the skills they need to thrive.
We don’t just teach English—we build thinkers, explorers, and communicators. Our nurturing environment helps children grow academically, socially, and emotionally, all while developing strong language skills that support success in both local and international settings.
Our Core Framework
Curriculum Planning: Monthly themes + weekly objectives align to EYLF/EYFS milestones, Reggio projects, and WIDA/CEFR language skills.
Lesson Delivery: Teachers follow UDL to adapt instruction, using play, exploration, and multi-modal learning.
Assessment & Communication: Student portfolios include development from Hexaplex, language from WIDA/CEFR, and child growth based on ELOF or EYFS indicators.
Environment: The physical space and materials are intentionally designed (Reggio-style) to provoke curiosity and interaction.
Parent Engagement: We believe in building strong, transparent relationships with families. Regular updates, photos, and videos give you a clear window into your child’s learning journey—whether they’re exploring language, science, art, or emotional development. Our weekly reports and learning portfolios show how your child is growing across all areas, not just in English but also in creativity, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills.
Integrated Language Skills and Core Curriculum Components
Listening - Songs, stories, and auditory games help children strengthen comprehension, follow instructions, and build vocabulary in meaningful, playful ways.
Speaking - Circle time, group sharing, role-play, and conversation practice support expressive language, pronunciation, and social communication.
Reading - Daily read-alouds, phonics instruction, and guided reading activities nurture early literacy, story awareness, and print recognition.
Writing - Fine motor activities, tracing, labeling, and early journaling (for older students) lay the foundation for written communication and language structure.
Grammar - Grammar is introduced naturally through structured routines, sentence modeling, and pattern-based speaking, ensuring a solid base for future language use.

Curriculum Overview
Lessons are structured around monthly thematic units, each containing subtopics that spark curiosity and make learning relevant. Within each week, students participate in a well-balanced rotation of activities:
Circle Time: Builds community, introduces weekly language, songs, and routines
Themed Activities: Hands-on experiences related to monthly topics (e.g., animals, space, fairytales)
Phonics & Literacy: Daily exposure to letter sounds, vocabulary, and early reading. We integrate multiple resources such as Jolly Phonics, Oxford Phonics World, and Reading A-Z, ensuring our students develop a love for reading and a solid foundation in English phonics.
Mathematics: Number sense, shape recognition, patterns, measurement, and foundational operations
Science & Discovery: Inquiry-based learning through experiments, nature, and observation
Small Groups: Differentiated instruction based on age and language level
